Dust falls. That is most of the reason for the order we clean in. If we did the floors first, the dust from the shelves and the ceiling fan would land on them an hour later.

The order

Ceiling fans and light fittings, then picture rails and the tops of frames, then shelves, sills and switches, then worktops and tables, then skirting boards. Floors are always last.

Why it matters on the note

Because every visit runs in the same order, the times on the note mean something. If the bathroom took twenty minutes longer than usual, there was a reason, and we write it down.
